Theatre
In the theater space, I bring measured discipline and bold choices to the stage. I’m a Company Member at Collaboraction Theatre, and was honored with their Artist Award in 2018.
In 2018, I wrote and performed in my first theater production, Soul in Suburbia. This play is an autobiographical piece centered on the impact of discrimination, captured through the lens of a Black family in Chicagoland suburbia in the 80s. It was first mounted as a short, and then notably remounted as a full-length production in 2019.
Shortly after its premiere, I dove into the intense, groundbreaking co-devised show A Blue Island in the Red Sea, which grappled with Chicago's history of systemic racism. I played Mamie Till-Mobley and a number of other strong Black historical figures in this groundbreaking live experience.
